An afternoon with garden, flowers, stories, delicious food and lovely people who came to experience a wild beautiful garden with history.
A wild beautiful garden with history
The guests experienced "A wild beautiful garden with history", which is our farmhouse garden with flower beds, where native "wild" species are planted among perennials, herbs, berry bushes, fruit trees, roses, etc. Here, among others, Corn Poppy, Gærde Poppy, Torskemund, Gederams and Blue Hat are allowed to spread out between the tiles and settle in the beds.
A pleasant arrangement in the garden, but also educational
The event "Experience a wild, beautiful garden with history" set out to inspire guests to create more biodiversity in their own garden and in existing beds for greater diversity of species, and to create good conditions for animals and insects. Nature is cornered and cries out for our help, so every wild square meter counts.
The garden wants to jump into the forest
I also touched on the challenges of living by the sea and forest and then on top of that a large sand dune. The salt from the sea excludes certain plants from growing here. In some areas of the garden, towards the north/west and the sea, there are not many plants that want to settle down, even grass species have a hard time here. So what can grow, will grow!
We have many trees around the site and they drop millions and millions of seeds every year. A few hundred of them take root here in the garden and little mini trees shoot up everywhere. If we don't mow the grass and keep the garden open to other vegetation, as well as weeding in beds and between stones and tiles, the garden quickly turns into forest. In a few years, the area will look like large parts of Trelde Næs - mixed forest with vegetation at the bottom of only blackberries, eagle ferns, brambles and nettles. We will never get rid of the last mentioned, but we try to limit the extent of them, so that there is room for other plant species. Stinging nettle is the host plant for some of our beautiful butterflies, such as the Admiral, Great White-winged Peacock and Nettle's Roofwing, and it's good that there are lots of stinging nettles in the area.
The other plants are probably also beneficial, but there are so many of them in nature, so in the garden we must make sure that there are plenty of all sorts of other useful plants.
True enjoyment of the garden was the basis of the cozy arrangement in the garden - and it must have rubbed off on the guests
I was shown most of the 4000 m2 hilly plot and the guests got to see the mixture of wilderness and orderly garden. The farm is undergoing renovation, but here it exudes coziness and genuine garden enjoyment. Little stories about the history of the place - from 1837 to today, were given to the guests along the way on our tour around the garden. They heard about the time when it was a hideaway, when the carpet wholesaler divided it into several plots and when the garden was transformed into a Japanese garden according to all the basic rules of feng shui.

Bubbles and delicious food
We ended the cozy garden arrangement with something good for the palate and stomach. I had made sure that everything was homemade and tasty and, of course, with ingredients from the garden and cold bubbles for the tall glasses.
Orange Targetes - the new variety in the garden
Shamefully I had also baked cake, a coconut cake with blueberries and Apelsin Targetes cream. Orange Targetes really taste like orange and everything about the plant can be eaten, both leaves and flowers - what's not to like.
Tuc, Taco and chips for the cozy garden event
Tuc, Taco, chips and my delicious carrot bread with thyme could be enjoyed with hummus with parsley, black olive tapenade with pickled paprika and carp or red pepper and garlic stirred in Greek yogurt.
Salad with watercress
We have lovely fresh lettuce in the garden and out of them I made the most simple but really tasty salad. Green salad leaves and diced Danish cucumber, decorated with the flowers from Blomsterkarse and flavored with olive oil, apple cider, maple syrup, salt and pepper. Super fresh and summery. If I had had ripe strawberries in the garden, they would have tasted fantastic in the salad.
I had baked pies with a sea of different vegetables and decorated with Parmesan cheese, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil from the windowsill.
Rippling stream and the splash from the waterfall
It was a super nice day and it won't be the last time that I hold a nice event in the garden.

Learn how to transform your furniture into a unique piece of art
By beautiful Trelde Næs next to Vejle Fjord lies Jubækgaard. Here I teach the techniques I use when decorating furniture. It is fun and enriching to express yourself creatively and you will get plenty of inspiration for your own projects.A large piece of furniture is a time-consuming project, so we work on a smaller scale, but the techniques are the same whether it is large or small.
